چکیده

Abstract We consider a number of parallel-machine scheduling problems in which jobs have variable processing times. The actual time each job is described by an arbitrary positive function the position it holds on machine. However, itself may additionally depend or machine this was assigned to. Our aim to find schedule that minimizes objectives maximum completion total time. present full set polynomial solutions for cases with no precedence constraints. also show case single-chained be not easier general, but some results can obtained, too.

Scheduling jobs with position-dependent processing times

Bachman and Janiak provided a sketch of the proof that the problem 1|ri,pi(v)1⁄4 ai/v|Cmax is NP-hard in the strong sense. However, they did not show how to avoid using harmonic numbers whose encoding is not pseudo-polynomial, which makes the proof incomplete. In this corrigendum, we provide a new complete proof. Unrelated Parallel Machine Scheduling with Resource Dependent Processing Times

We consider unrelated machine scheduling problems with the objective to minimize the schedule makespan. In addition to its machinedependence, the processing time of any job is also dependent on the usage of a scarce renewable resource. An amount of k units of that resource, e.g. workers, can be distributed over the jobs in process, and the more of that resource is allocated to a job, the smalle...

Identical parallel machine scheduling with time-dependent processing times

In the literature, most of the parallel-machine scheduling problems, in which the processing time of a job is a linear function of its starting time, are proved to be NP-hard. In this paper, we study a parallel-machine scheduling problem in which the processing time of a job is a linear function of its starting time. The objectives are to minimize the total completion of all jobs and the total ...

Machine scheduling with resource dependent processing times

We consider several parallel machine scheduling settings with the objective to minimize the schedule makespan. The most general of these settings is unrelated parallel machine scheduling. We assume that, in addition to its machine dependence, the processing time of any job is dependent on the usage of a scarce renewable resource. A given amount of that resource, e.g. workers, can be distributed...

Some single-machine scheduling with sum-of-processing-time-based and job-position-based processing times

The single-machine scheduling problems with position and sum-of-processing-time based processing times are considered. The actual processing time of a job is defined by function of its scheduled position and total normal processing time of jobs in front of it in the sequence. We provide optimal solutions in polynomial time for some special cases of the makespan minimization and the total comple...
